We've only just begun

The micro residency for the Cemento Mori project begins. Departing from Germantown in the afternoon, the intent is to pick up some brick shards and other materials and take a city bus to The Open Kitchen Sculpture Garden. T oday  will be about settling in and getting a feel for the project. Arranging, planning, and sketching are the orders of the day. The intention is to be low-tech, some digital documentation will happen, some electric and cordless tools may be used during the project, but mostly simple hand tools. Mapping the source of the found materials, and perhaps a few pics of new edifices occupying ground are part of the intention.  Time will tell how things play out.  

Memento Mori

This is an attempt at an online chapbook for the Cemento Mori art project. The author is neither journalist nor artist so it's fair to say that this is an experimental undertaking without any guaranties for the outcome. Nostalgia for demolished buildings and outmoded ways of life and thought are the catalyst for this work. Ultimately like all nostalgia it will be a flawed recollection. One question to be considered is whether the creative act is for the creator or an audience? Wikipedia will be considered a credible source though it is understood to be generally discouraged by the academy.
